Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)

Our parasitology laboratory and study facilities are GLP accredited.

GLP is a set of principles within which non-clinical laboratory studies are planned, performed, monitored, recorded, reported and archived. It helps regulatory authorities be sure that any data the laboratory submits is a true reflection of the results of the study and can be relied upon when making risk and safety assessments.

Any test facility that conducts or intends to conduct regulatory studies, must comply with GLP regulations when carrying out safety tests on:

  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Agrochemical
  • Veterinary medicine
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Cosmetics
  • Additives for human food and animal feed
  • Biocides

In the UK, the test facility must belong to the UK GLP compliance monitoring programme, run by the UK GLP Monitoring Authority (UK GLPMA). You can see our current membership here.

We also have links with other GLP accredited laboratories. This means, as well as conducting whole studies ourselves, we can conduct studies in partnership with others.

Not all our studies require GLP compliance. However, when we do work outside of GLP, the quality and reliability of the study and resulting data is not affected in any way.
